"Chocchan Monogatari" (The Story of Chocchan) is an autobiographical children's literature work by Japanese author Asa Kuroyanagi. Published by Kinnohoshi-sha in June 1993, the book recounts the author's childhood. Written in a simple language and with delicate strokes, the story portrays Japanese society during that special era from a child's perspective, as well as the various people and events the author encountered during their growth. It not only records the laughter and carefree nature of childhood but also depicts the hardships and difficulties of the wartime era, as well as the author's love and responsibility for their family. In 1996, this work was adapted into an animated film, distributed by Cinema Tohoku. The animated film not only preserves the warmth and emotion of the original work, but also vividly presents the story to the audience through lively visuals and music. Both the book and the movie are beloved by Japanese readers and audiences, becoming a classic children's literature and animation work. The DVD of this work was once limited to public facilities, but a DVD version was released in 2018.
