Dennō Bōkenki Webdiver (電脳冒険記ウェブダイバー), also known as Brain Adventure Record Webdiver, is a Japanese mecha anime series produced by Radix and Nihon Ad Systems, in collaboration with toy maker Takara. The series aired on TV Tokyo from April 6, 2001, to March 29, 2002, with a total of 52 episodes. It is set in the year 2100, where the world is connected by a computer network. Children become Web Divers, converting their consciousness into data and playing together in a virtual park called the Magical Gate. However, a mysterious computer virus appears and begins to destroy the Magical Gate from within. Programs called Web Knights were created to protect the children in cyberspace, but the virus turns all the Web Knights against them. The only Web Knight to escape the "brainwashing" is Gladion, who seeks the help of Kaito Yuki, a fourth-grade Web Diver. The anime is known for its unique virtual world setting, mecha battles, and the story of children adventuring in cyberspace. The series also featured a toy line that interacted with TV screens. The concept for the series was inspired by Takara's recently released plug-and-play karaoke toy, eKara.
