Humanoid Monster Bem

Youkai Ningen Bem (2006), also known as Humanoid Monster Bem, is a remake of the classic anime series. It aired on Animax in 2006. The story follows Bem, Bera, and Belo, three humanoid monsters, who arrive in a coastal city plagued by evil and decide to stay and fight against the monsters and youkai that harm humans. Despite facing abuse and discrimination from humans due to their appearance, they strive to protect the city's people, hoping to one day become human as a reward for their good deeds. This anime retains the core settings of the original while modernizing the character designs and story background. Compared to the old series, character designs are more gentle, and many human characters are introduced. The story also focuses more on the dark side of the human heart, making the plot deeper and more thought-provoking. Despite originally airing only on satellite channels, it is considered a hidden gem due to its high-quality production and compelling storyline.
