Ghost Hunt (Japanese: ゴーストハント, Hepburn: Gōsuto Hanto), originally titled Akuryō Series (悪霊シリーズ), is a light novel series written by Fuyumi Ono. It follows the adventures of Shibuya Psychic Research (SPR) as they investigate mysterious occurrences all over Japan with a team of other spiritualists and clever assistants. The novels were first published between 1989 and 1994, but the story was left incomplete. The series has since been adapted into radio dramas, manga, and anime. The manga, illustrated by Shiho Inada, was serialized in Nakayoshi magazine from 1998 to 2010, and compiled into 12 volumes. The anime adaptation, produced by J.C.Staff, aired in 2006, comprising 25 episodes. The story centers on high school student Mai Taniyama, who inadvertently becomes involved with SPR’s investigations, and works alongside the narcissistic young manager, Kazuya Shibuya (nicknamed "Naru"), and other paranormal experts to solve supernatural cases. The series is praised for its engaging plot, suspense, and in-depth exploration of paranormal phenomena. Despite the novels being incomplete, its spin-offs, such as the manga and anime, have achieved success in their respective mediums.
