"Crayon Shin-chan: Pursuit of the Balls of Darkness" is the fifth animated theatrical film in the Crayon Shin-chan franchise, released in 1997. Directed by Keiichi Hara, it follows the Nohara family as they become embroiled in an adventure to protect a mysterious 'ball'. Shin-chan accidentally picks up a glowing ball while walking, which is then swallowed by his sister, Himawari. Subsequently, three transvestites calling themselves the 'Tamayura Brothers' appear, informing Shin-chan that the ball is key to sealing the demon Jack, and that the opposing 'Tamayomi Clan' seeks to obtain it. To protect Himawari and the ball, the Nohara family embarks on a journey with the Tamayura Brothers to the sacred site of 'A, That Mountain' in Aomori Prefecture. Along the way, they face attacks from the Tamayomi Clan and encounter a passionate female police officer. Ultimately, Shin-chan and his family successfully prevent Jack's resurrection and resolve the crisis. The film is known for its unique fantastical style and intense action sequences, making it a classic in the Crayon Shin-chan film series and a key turning point in director Keiichi Hara's career.
