新・ど根性ガエル

"Shin Dokonjo Gaeru" (New Gutsy Frog) is a Japanese television anime series broadcast from 1981 to 1982, serving as a sequel to the 1972 anime "Dokonjo Gaeru" (Gutsy Frog). The story continues the basic premise of the original, following the everyday life of Hiroshi and Pyonkichi, a flattened frog living on his shirt. Compared to its predecessor, "Shin Dokonjo Gaeru" features some innovations in character design and plot, while maintaining the original's humorous style and friendship themes. The anime was produced by a Japanese animation studio and aired on Nippon TV from September 7, 1981, to March 29, 1982, with 30 episodes (each containing two 15-minute segments). It is the second anime adaptation of the "Dokonjo Gaeru" series and incorporates new elements, such as new characters and storylines, to make the work more appealing. Though not as well-known as the first series, "Shin Dokonjo Gaeru" is still an important part of the franchise and is beloved by fans. Additionally, the Blu-ray set of the work was released in 2021, attracting many old anime fans.
