《The Karma Saiyuki》 (Japanese: 癒してあげルン 西遊記) is an adult animation OVA released by OZ inc. in Japan on February 23, 2007. The English version was released by Happy Carrot on April 14, 2009. Shortly after its release, the animation sparked controversy and backlash in mainland China. The story follows the “Healing Team,” which consists of Mayuko (Son Goku), Izumi (Sha Gojo), Atu (Cho Hakkai), and Tsutomu (Tripitaka), as they stop in a town during their journey. There, they encounter fantastical foods and high-end beauty salons. Izumi, Atu, and even Tsutomu are impressed by the beauty salon’s techniques. However, behind the seemingly wonderful façade, strange mechanical sounds suggest that there may be other troubles lurking. The animation is loosely based on the classic 'Journey to the West', and features gender-swapped characters and adult content, sparking discussions amongst viewers. The work consists of only one OVA episode, with a runtime of approximately 34 minutes.
