The Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk (ドルアーガの塔 ~the Aegis of URUK~) is the first season of the Japanese anime television series, The Tower of Druaga, produced by Gonzo. It is an animated adaptation of the video game series of the same name by NAMCO. The anime aired in Japan from April 1, 2008, to June 20, 2008, consisting of 12 episodes. The story takes place during the "Summer of Anu," a period when the power of monsters in the tower weakens due to the blessing of the god Anu. The kingdom of Uruk establishes strongholds inside the tower to conquer the upper levels. At the same time, numerous adventurers known as "Climbers" gather at the tower, driven by rumors of the legendary "Blue Crystal Rod." The protagonist, Jil, is a young guardian embarking on a journey to reach the top of the tower. The anime depicts not only the adventures of Jil and his companions but also the competition and conflict among various factions with different goals within the tower. The first season primarily focuses on Jil and his party’s challenges within the Tower of Druaga, setting the stage for the second season, The Tower of Druaga: The Sword of Uruk.
