"H2O: Footprints in the Sand" is a Japanese adult visual novel developed by Makura, first released on June 23, 2006, for PC. A PlayStation 2 version titled "H2O+" followed on April 24, 2008, which removed adult content and added new scenarios and graphics. The game centers around Takuma Hirose, a blind young man who moves to a rural village after his mother's death. There, he meets several distinct girls: the obstinate Hayami Kohinata, the kind Hinata Kagura, and the cheerful Otoha. As he interacts with them, Takuma’s condition gradually improves. The game features two modes: Blindness Effect, rendering the game in black and white to simulate his blindness, and Normal Effect, displaying in color. The story unfolds in three chapters: the Past Chapter, where characters meet; the Reunion Chapter, where they reconnect after a separation; and the After Game, where the player chooses a heroine. It focuses on emotional relationships with interspersed humor. "H2O: Footprints in the Sand" has also been adapted into manga and anime, with the anime airing in 2008.
