Lupin the 3rd: Green vs Red (ルパン三世 GREEN vs RED) is the third Original Video Animation (OVA) of the Lupin the 3rd franchise, released on April 2, 2008, to commemorate the series' 40th anniversary. The work is presented in an experimental and ideological way, with a fragmented timeline and ambiguous results, making its plot difficult to understand. It also incorporates ideological claims such as anti-nuclear sentiment and the values of contemporary young people, presenting a unique style. The story tells of the many people impersonating Lupin after Arsène Lupin III's disappearance. Among them, a young man named Yasuo begins impersonating Lupin after accidentally obtaining a green jacket and a Walther P38 pistol used by Lupin. At the same time, the real Lupin, wearing a red jacket, also appears in Tokyo, and the two engage in a confrontation to seize a mysterious object called the 'Ice Cube.' The work explores Lupin's identity and many contemporary social issues. The animation also features real-world brands such as McDonald's and Fiat.
