Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Japanese: 鋼の錬金術師 FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST), often abbreviated as FMA:B, is the second anime television series adapted from Hiromu Arakawa's manga, Fullmetal Alchemist. Produced by Bones, this series is a faithful adaptation that directly follows the entire storyline of the original manga, unlike the 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist anime, which deviated from the manga to tell an original story. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood aired in Japan from April 2009 to July 2010, comprising 64 episodes. Set in an early 20th-century fictional universe where alchemy is widely practiced, the series follows the journey of brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric as they seek the mythical Philosopher's Stone to restore their bodies after a failed attempt to resurrect their mother using alchemy. The anime is highly praised for its adherence to the source material, well-developed characters, and complex themes. It's celebrated as one of the greatest anime series of all time, featuring not just action but delving into ethics, sacrifice, war, and political conspiracy.
