Umi Monogatari: Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto (うみものがたり 〜あなたがいてくれたコト〜, Sea Story: That You Were There For Me) is a Japanese anime series produced by Zexcs, directed by Junichi Sato and Yuu Kou. It began airing on Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting on June 24, 2009, and consists of 12 episodes, with an additional unaired episode included in the final DVD volume. The anime is based on a pachinko game by Sanyo Bussan. The story revolves around Marin and Urin, two pure mermaid sisters who live in the sea and yearn to explore the world above. One day, a beautiful ring falls into the sea, and Marin and Urin decide to leave their home to return it to its owner. Their journey takes them to an isolated island where they meet Kanon, a high school girl. Urin accidentally releases Sedna, a powerful entity sealed on the island. Marin and Kanon are revealed to be the priestesses of the sea and sky, respectively, and must join forces to defeat Sedna. The anime blends fantasy, magical girl, and sisterly bonds into its narrative.
