"Eden of the East the Movie I: The King of Eden" is a 2009 Japanese animated film directed by Kenji Kamiyama, serving as a sequel to the "Eden of the East" TV series. Set six months after the events of the series finale, it follows Akira Takizawa, who erases his memory and disappears after preventing a missile attack, having requested to become the 'King of Japan.' Saki Morimi journeys to New York City to search for Akira, following clues from his cell phone. Meanwhile, other Seleção (game participants) begin to take action, each with their own ideas for 'saving Japan,' some resorting to dangerous measures. The film continues the suspense and conspiracy elements of the TV series, introducing new characters and plot points, as viewers explore the secrets of the Seleção game, and Akira Takizawa’s true identity and purpose. With a runtime of approximately 85 minutes, this is the first of two theatrical films in the "Eden of the East" series, setting the stage for subsequent story development.
