Jungle Emperor: Courage Changes the Future is a 2009 Japanese animated television film, a special episode of Osamu Tezuka's classic work Jungle Emperor (Kimba the White Lion). The story is set in a man-made jungle on Earth in 20XX, differing from previous anime and manga stories. Panja and his mate Eliza are still alive, Coco is an unspecified female bird, and the black panther Sylvester appears as an antagonist, later turning good after a boy mends his leg. This anime was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Fuji Television, directed by Gorō Taniguchi, written by Osamu Suzuki, and featuring character designs by Yoshitaka Amano. The animation reinterprets the classic themes of Jungle Emperor, such as courage, friendship, and the importance of protecting nature, with a new story and modern setting.
