Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, known in Japan as Nurarihyon no Mago (ぬらりひょんの孫), is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiroshi Shiibashi. The story centers on Rikuo Nura, a boy who is three-quarters human and one-quarter yōkai. During the day, he appears as a normal human student, but at night, he transforms into his yōkai form. He lives with many yōkai in his grandfather's house. Although his grandfather wishes for Rikuo to succeed him as the Third Heir of the Nura Clan, Rikuo initially tries to avoid his yōkai destiny and strives to do good deeds. However, after various events, Rikuo accepts his yōkai heritage and decides to take on the role. He must gather allies and create a new Hyakki Yakō to combat various factions that seek to usurp his position. The manga was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2008 to 2012, then continued in Jump NEXT!, totaling 25 tankōbon volumes. It has also been adapted into a two-season anime by Studio Deen, broadcast in 2010 and 2011. Additionally, there are drama CDs, novels, and video games based on the series.
