"Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls," also known as "Samurai Girls," is a Japanese light novel series written by Akira Suzuki and illustrated by Niθ, created to commemorate Hobby Japan's 40th anniversary. The story is set in an alternate history where the Tokugawa shogunate continues to rule Japan, keeping the country semi-isolated and known as "Great Japan." The narrative revolves around Buou Academic School, a large military academy located at the base of Mount Fuji, where future samurai are trained. The protagonist, Muneakira Yagyu, a young samurai, has his life turned upside down after meeting Jubei Yagyu, a mysterious naked woman who falls from the sky, claiming to be Yagyu Jubei. After they kiss, Jubei awakens as a "Master Samurai." The story follows Muneakira and his "Master Samurai" companions as they battle the student council and embark on a journey to uncover the secrets of this world.
The series has expanded beyond the light novels to include manga, anime, and other media. The anime, produced by ARMS, consists of two seasons: the first aired in 2010 and the second, "Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride," aired in 2013. The series is known for its unique setting, sensual character designs, and exciting fight scenes. It has also spawned various merchandise, including figures and games, and has a wide following among fans.
