Chi-Sui Maru is a Japanese television anime series that premiered on February 6, 2010, primarily broadcast in the Kanto region. Created by Rareko, who also made "Yawaraka Sensha," the anime revolves around the comedic offensive and defensive battles between Nobuo, an office worker, and Chi-Sui Maru, a mosquito. Chi-Sui Maru is constantly trying to suck Nobuo's blood, while Nobuo desperately tries to avoid it. The first season concluded on November 25, 2010, with 41 episodes. However, the creator mentioned on Twitter that it was just the end of the first season, expressing hopes for a continuation. The second season aired from January 15, 2011, to September 24, 2011, totaling 75 episodes. Besides television broadcasts, the anime was also available for free on Nippon TV's video-on-demand service, "Dai 2 Nippon TV," as well as through mobile sites and Twitter. The series aimed to combine TV broadcasts with online media for character-based business. Aside from Chi-Sui Maru, there are other unnamed mosquito characters, like a convenience store plastic bag mosquito, an old man mosquito with a wide forehead, and a train mosquito. Each episode is about one minute long, making it a short and humorous series.
