Legend of the Millennium Dragon (Onigamiden) is a 2011 Japanese animated film directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki. The story follows Jun Tendo, a 15-year-old boy who is unexpectedly transported 1200 years back in time to the Heian period. He becomes embroiled in a war between humans and oni (demons). In this era, the oni are seen as evil creatures threatening humanity. Jun, who is destined to be a savior with mysterious powers, must take on the responsibility of ending the war. He faces challenges from the oni and internal power struggles within the human side. Jun gradually realizes that the oni are not simply evil demons but people who have been driven from their homes. After meeting Mizuha, a female oni, he begins to question the meaning of the war and seeks a path to peace. Ultimately, Jun awakens his powers, controls the legendary Yamata no Orochi, defeats the mastermind behind the conflict, and restores peace to the world. Legend of the Millennium Dragon blends time travel, fantasy, and action elements while exploring themes of war, prejudice, and redemption.
