IS: Infinite Stratos

"IS (Infinite Stratos)" is a Japanese light novel series written by Izuru Yumizuru, with illustrations by okiura (volumes 1-7) and CHOCO (from volume 8 onwards). The series is set in the near future, where Japan creates a powerful powered exoskeleton called the "Infinite Stratos (IS)". This armor has technology and combat capabilities far surpassing other weapon systems, posing a threat to world peace. To prevent military use, the "Alaska Treaty" was signed, prohibiting the use of IS for military purposes and stipulating that IS technology should be distributed equally. However, the IS can only be operated by women, leading to a major shift in social dynamics with women dominating society. The protagonist, Ichika Orimura, is the only male in the world capable of piloting an IS. He is forced to attend the IS Academy, a school that trains IS pilots, and this begins his eventful school life surrounded by female students. "IS" has been adapted into various media forms including anime, manga and video games.
