Berserk: The Golden Age Arc (Japanese: ベルセルク 黄金時代篇, Hepburn: Beruseruku Ōgon Jidai-hen) is a Japanese anime film trilogy adapting the Golden Age arc of Kentaro Miura's Berserk manga series. It was produced by Studio 4°C and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures Japan. The three films are The Egg of the King (released in February 2012), The Battle for Doldrey (released in June 2012), and The Advent (released in February 2013). Viz Media has licensed the trilogy for English home video release in North America. A remastered edited version for television with new scenes, labeled as "Memorial Edition," was broadcast for 13 episodes from October to December 2022. The Golden Age Arc tells the story of the rise of the Band of the Hawk, led by the mercenary Griffith, during a century-long war, focusing on the complex relationship between Griffith and the swordsman Guts, as well as the rise and fall of the band. The story culminates in a tragedy known as "The Eclipse," which leads to the near annihilation of the Band of the Hawk, the loss of Guts' left arm and right eye, and Casca's mental collapse. The film trilogy is known for its beautiful visuals, deep themes, and brutal plot.
