"Pokémon the Movie: White—Victini and Zekrom" (劇場版ポケットモンスター ベストウイッシュ ビクティニと黒き英雄 ゼクロム) is the 14th film in the Pokémon anime series and the first movie in the "Pokémon: Best Wishes" series. It was released in Japan on July 16, 2011. Uniquely, it was released alongside a companion film, "Pokémon the Movie: Black—Victini and Reshiram," with both films sharing a similar plot but with key differences.
The story is set in Eindoak Town, centered around the castle known as the "Sword of the Vale." Ash and his friends encounter the Mythical Pokémon Victini while participating in the town's harvest festival. Meanwhile, a man named Damon seeks to restore an ancient kingdom by harnessing Victini's power. Damon allies himself with Zekrom (in the "White" version) or Reshiram (in the "Black" version) and a battle ensues over Victini and the Dragon Force.
The "White" version focuses on Ash's connection with Zekrom, emphasizing the importance of ideals. Ash and his friends attempt to stop Damon's plan and free Victini. Both films combine action, adventure, comedy, and fantasy, highlighting themes of friendship and cooperation. The movie drew inspiration from locations in Southern France, such as Nice, and included a special download event for a unique Victini for the Pokémon Black and White video games.
