C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control is a 2011 Japanese anime television series produced by Tatsunoko Production. The story is set in a financially bankrupt Japan, where unemployment, crime, and suicide rates are rampant. The protagonist, Kimimaro Yoga, an economics student, gets drawn into a mysterious alternate dimension called the "Financial District," where people bet their futures in battles known as "Deals." Participants, called "Entre," fight alongside creatures that symbolize their futures known as "Assets," using a special currency called "Midas Money." Winning these battles yields large sums of money, while losing alters their futures, sometimes leading to their erasure from existence in the real world. Kimimaro initially fights for survival but comes to realize the truth about the Financial District and his father's past, along with its impact on reality. This anime explores themes of trust, economic crises, and the necessity to act to secure a better future. It is rich with macroeconomic and philosophical discussions while also showcasing exciting battle sequences. While praised for its unique concept and themes, it has also been criticized for its incomplete plot and underdeveloped characters.
