"Bunny Drop" (Japanese: うさぎドロップ, Usagi Doroppu) is a Japanese manga series by Yumi Unita. The story revolves around Daikichi Kawachi, a 30-year-old bachelor, who becomes the guardian of Rin, a six-year-old girl who is the illegitimate daughter of his grandfather. Daikichi decides to take Rin in after witnessing the family’s cold reception of her at the grandfather's funeral. The series follows Daikichi's journey as a first-time parent, depicting the challenges and growth he experiences while raising Rin. The manga was serialized in the monthly josei magazine Feel Young from October 2005 to April 2011 and collected into nine volumes by Shodensha. An anime adaptation by Production I.G aired between July and September 2011, and a live-action film adaptation was released in August 2011. The initial part of the series focuses on Daikichi's early experiences raising Rin, while the latter part jumps ten years forward, focusing on Rin's adolescence and her relationships. The series explores themes of family, parenthood, and personal growth, and is known for its heartwarming portrayal of the bond between Daikichi and Rin. However, the manga's ending, where Rin develops romantic feelings for Daikichi, was controversial, and this aspect was not adapted in the anime or film.
