"Haganai: I Don't Have Many Friends" (Japanese: 僕は友達が少ない, Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai), often shortened to Haganai, is a Japanese light novel series written by Yomi Hirasaka and illustrated by Buriki. The story revolves around Kodaka Hasegawa and the various 'unfortunately' beautiful girls who form the Neighbors Club as they try to make friends. This series is popular for its unique 'disappointing girl' character archetypes and its unconventional plot, leading to adaptations in manga, anime, and video game formats. The OVA "A Black Pot Smells Like a Pity for a Beautiful Girl (;´∀`)" included in the special edition of volume 7 is the prequel episode or episode 0 for the TV anime. It depicts the Neighbor's Club members gathering and preparing a 'dark pot' meal, featuring slapstick humour and over-the-top visuals to generate buzz for the start of the TV series.
