Accel World

Accel World (Japanese: アクセル・ワールド, Akuseru Wārudo) is a Japanese light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by HIMA. Set in a near-future where people can access virtual network worlds using devices called “Neuro Linkers,” the story follows Haruyuki Arita, an overweight and bullied middle school student who excels in virtual games. He is noticed by Kuroyukihime, the beautiful and enigmatic student council vice-president, who introduces him to a secret program called "Brain Burst." This program accelerates human cognitive processes, making time seem to stop. Haruyuki discovers that "Brain Burst" is actually an augmented reality massively multiplayer online fighting game where players fight to earn burst points, enhancing their real-world abilities. To reach the game's highest level and uncover its true purpose, Haruyuki allies with Kuroyukihime, transforming into "Silver Crow" and "Black Lotus," battling other players and gradually revealing the secrets of "Accel World."
