Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie

The Puella Magi Madoka Magica film series (劇場版 魔法少女まどか☆マギカ) is a series of Japanese animated films produced by Aniplex and Shaft, based on the 2011 television anime of the same name. The series consists of three films: *Beginnings*, *Eternal*, and *Rebellion*. The first two films are recaps of the TV series with redone voice acting and newly animated footage, while *Rebellion* is an entirely new, original story. The plot follows middle school girls who make contracts with a mysterious creature to become magical girls and fight surreal enemies called “witches.” However, as the story progresses, they discover the harsh realities and despair associated with their new roles. The films expand upon the dark themes of the anime, exploring profound topics like hope, despair, sacrifice, and love. *Rebellion* in particular introduces new characters and plot points, drastically changing the series' world. The series is widely acclaimed for its unique visual style, deep storyline, and thought-provoking themes, becoming a classic in the magical girl genre.
