AKB0048

AKB0048 is a Japanese science fiction musical comedy anime television series based on the idol group AKB48. Produced by Satelight, with Shōji Kawamori as chief director, the story is set in the early 21st century, where Earth's ecosystem has collapsed due to an interplanetary war, forcing humanity to flee to other planets. In this new society, ruled by the Deep Galactic Trade Organization (DGTO), music and art are forbidden as 'disturbing to the heart.' The legendary idol group AKB48 is resurrected as the interplanetary troupe AKB0048, with members inheriting the titles and spirits of the original members. They are seen as heroes or terrorists, fighting with weapons to bring music to their fans. The story follows a group of young hopefuls training to become the next generation of AKB0048. The anime aired in two seasons, the first from April to July 2012, and the second from January to March 2013. The plot involves the new generation of trainees growing through challenges and competitions, facing threats from the DGTO and DES, ultimately bringing peace to the universe with love and music.
