Glitter Force

"Glitter Force" is the English dubbed version of the Japanese anime "Smile Pretty Cure!" (スマイルプリキュア!), adapted by Saban Brands and broadcast on Netflix. The series follows five middle school girls who become a legendary superhero squad called the "Glitter Force," tasked with defending Earth from evil fairy-tale villains. The original "Smile Pretty Cure!" premiered in 2012 as the ninth anime series in the "Pretty Cure" franchise, totaling 48 episodes, while "Glitter Force" condensed the series to 40 episodes and altered some plot points and character names. The series first debuted on Netflix in December 2015 and was removed from the platform in November 2024. The dubbed version of "Glitter Force" differs from the original in voice acting, music, and plot adaptation, and is thus regarded as an alternate continuity. The main characters of "Glitter Force" include Emily/Glitter Lucky, Kelsey/Glitter Sunny, Lily/Glitter Peace, April/Glitter Spring, and Chloe/Glitter Breeze, who wield the powers of light, fire, lightning, wind, and ice, respectively. The villains include Ulric, Brute, Brooha, Rascal, and Emperor Nogo. The series emphasizes positivity, teamwork, and the power of friendship and hope.
