"Joshiraku" (じょしらく, lit. "Rakugo Girls") is a Japanese comedy manga series written by Kōji Kumeta and illustrated by Yasu. It was serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine from September 2009 to September 2013, with a total of 6 tankōbon volumes. The story revolves around the everyday lives of five young female rakugo comedians, focusing on their backstage conversations and humorous interactions rather than their actual rakugo performances. The manga is known for its unique humor, exaggerated depiction of mundane events, and clever incorporation of current affairs and social satire. A 13-episode anime television series adaptation by J.C.Staff aired from July to September 2012. It also has spawned an OAD, stage plays, and other derivative works. The anime version also features original segments showcasing Tokyo sightseeing spots. With its lighthearted and comedic style, along with its modern take on traditional rakugo, the work has garnered a loyal fanbase.
