"Seriously Otaku English! Ribbon-chan ~Magical Girl Fighting in English~" (Maji de Otaku na Ingurisshu! Ribon-chan ~Eigo de Tatakau Mahō Shōjo ~) is a Japanese short-form anime series. It revolves around Ribbon-chan, a high school girl not proficient in English, who becomes a magical girl after contracting with a cat named Toner, who claims to be her familiar. Along with her fellow magical girls Belle and Garnet, Ribbon-chan battles the evil witch Valko, who aims to conquer the world. However, due to budget and production issues, their focus shifts from saving the world to keeping the show afloat. The anime employs a lighthearted and humorous approach, translating anime references and internet slang into English, aiming to introduce the audience to common English expressions, particularly those used by otaku. The first season aired in July 2012, and the second season, "Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan the TV", aired in July 2013. The anime is animated by AIC Frontier and produced by Pastel and AIR AGENCY, consisting of 13 episodes.
