"Maoyū Maō Yūsha" (まおゆう魔王勇者), also known as "Maoyu: Archenemy & Hero", is a Japanese light novel series created by Mamare Touno. It was initially posted in a play format on the textboard 2channel in 2009. Enterbrain published five main novels and three side-story novels between 2010 and 2012, selling over 450,000 copies. The series has been adapted into multiple manga series and a 12-episode anime series aired from January to March 2013. The story follows the Hero, who invades the Demon King's castle to defeat her, only to find that the Demon King is actually a Demon Queen. Instead of fighting, she proposes an alliance, arguing that a sudden end to the war will cause further chaos. Convinced, the Hero joins her in a plan to bring prosperity and peace to both humans and demons. This work explores themes of war, politics, and societal change from a unique economic and sociological perspective.
