AKB0048: Next Stage

AKB0048 Next Stage is the second season of the anime series AKB0048, which is based on the idol group AKB48. The story is set in the future, where entertainment is heavily regulated. AKB0048 is an illegal idol group that carries on the spirit of the original AKB48, performing guerrilla concerts across the galaxy. The second season takes place a year after the 77th generation understudies joined AKB0048, with the Deep Galactic Trade Organization (DGTO) and DES (Destroy Entertainment Soldiers) intensifying their attacks on entertainment. In response, AKB0048 brings back the general elections and the center nova position, thrusting the understudies into competition with the successors. Meanwhile, a new, more powerful enemy is quietly moving behind the scenes. The series is known for its dynamic music and sci-fi battles with an idol theme. In this season, the main character Nagisa ultimately becomes the 14th Atsuko Maeda, and Chieri becomes the new Center Nova.
