Kotoura-san (琴浦さん), also known as The Troubled Life of Miss Kotoura, is a Japanese four-panel manga series written by Enokizu. It began serialization in Micro Magazine's Manga Goccha magazine on October 14, 2010. The story centers on Haruka Kotoura, a girl who possesses the psychic ability to read minds. Due to her inability to control this power, she faces discrimination and isolation throughout her childhood. She inadvertently blurts out the thoughts of those around her, leading to misunderstandings and hurt, ultimately resulting in her parents abandoning her. In high school, she transfers to a new school and meets Yoshihisa Manabe, who is unfazed by her mind-reading ability. Manabe's presence transforms Haruka's life, allowing her to make friends and join the school's ESP Research Club. There, she embarks on adventures with her new friends, gradually learning to accept herself and overcome her past traumas. Kotoura-san blends elements of romantic comedy, drama, and the supernatural, depicting Haruka's journey from loneliness to acceptance, and highlighting the deep bonds she forms with her friends. The series also explores themes of relationships, self-acceptance, and understanding others. An anime adaptation aired in 2013, further broadening the series’ reach.
