"Chīsai-ojisan" (little old man) is a Japanese urban legend referring to a miniature creature resembling a middle-aged man. They are said to be between 8 and 30 centimeters tall, and sightings have been reported in various places, including on windows, in bathrooms, on roadsides, or in park trees. The sightings of Chīsai-ojisan gained attention around 2009, with many witnesses including celebrities. There are various speculations about the identity of the little old man, including fairies, monsters, kappas, ghosts, and aliens. Nonetheless, hallucinations, fatigue, or illness are also considered among the reasons for sightings. Some believe that Chīsai-ojisan are manifestations of dreams, illusions, or other illnesses, while others believe they are real. In 2010, a company even launched merchandise featuring Chīsai-ojisan, claiming that sightings would bring good luck. Despite many claims, the true identity of Chīsai-ojisan remains a mystery.
