A Certain Scientific Railgun S (Japanese: とある科学の超電磁砲S) is the second season of the anime television series adapted from the manga A Certain Scientific Railgun, which is a spin-off of the A Certain Magical Index light novel series. Produced by J.C.STAFF, it aired from April to September 2013, consisting of 24 episodes. The story is set in Academy City, focusing on students with unique psychic powers. The main character, Mikoto Misaka, is one of only seven Level 5 espers in the city, known as the 'Railgun'. In the second season, Mikoto and her friends investigate rumors in the city and uncover a horrifying experiment called the 'Level 6 Shift Project', involving the creation and sacrifice of numerous clones of Mikoto. Driven by her sense of responsibility, Mikoto fights against powerful enemies to stop the experiment and protect the clones. The anime continues the style of the first season, enhancing action sequences and plot depth, and exploring complex themes such as cloning and bioethics.
