Attack on Titan (Japanese: 進撃の巨人, Hepburn: Shingeki no Kyojin) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, which was later adapted into an anime. The story is set in a world where humanity lives in cities surrounded by three enormous walls that protect them from gigantic man-eating humanoids referred to as Titans. The protagonist, Eren Yeager, vows to exterminate the Titans after witnessing his hometown destroyed and his mother devoured. The story follows Eren and his friends as they join the military to fight against the Titans, uncovering secrets about their origin and the truth of the world. The anime is produced by Wit Studio (seasons 1-3) and MAPPA (season 4), and has received critical acclaim for its engaging plot, exceptional animation, and profound themes since its premiere in 2013. The series has gained immense global popularity and is considered one of the greatest anime series of all time. The manga was serialized from 2009 to 2021, totaling 34 volumes. The anime series concluded in 2023, spanning four seasons, and has produced several theatrical films and OVAs.
