Gaist Crusher (ガイストクラッシャー, Gaisutokurasshā) is an action video game developed by Treasure and published by Capcom, released for the Nintendo 3DS in Japan on December 5, 2013. It was part of a cross-media franchise that included manga adaptations in Shueisha magazines and an anime television adaptation by Pierrot. The story of Gaist Crusher is set in the year 2047, when mankind discovered a rare metal ore called "Gaimetal," which possessed a huge amount of energy. However, in 2064, humans began to be attacked by Gaists, metallic creatures with bodies encrusted with Gaimetal. In response to the Gaist threat, the Gaist Crusher Garrison (GCG) was formed. By 2075, the GCG deployed the Gaist Crushers, humans who can wear special Gaimetal armor called "Gaist Gear," to combat the Gaists. In the game, players explore maps, fight Gaists, and ultimately defeat large bosses. Combat involves using various attacks, "Gaist Arts," and "Form Changes." Upon defeating a Gaist, a "Crush Chance" appears, where players must destroy the Gaist's core within a given time to acquire new Gaist Gear. The game emphasizes "equip, transform, and collect," allowing players to customize their characters with various collected equipment. A sequel, Gaist Crusher God, was released on September 4, 2014, in Japan.
