Gingitsune: Messenger Fox of the Gods (ぎんぎつね) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Sayori Ochiai. It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Ultra Jump from June 2009 to October 2022, with its chapters collected into 18 tankōbon volumes. The story follows Makoto Saeki, the daughter of a shrine priest who has the ability to see the shrine's messenger, Gintaro, and their everyday lives as they act as a go-between for the gods and humans. Gintaro is a fox spirit who has been protecting a small Inari shrine since the Edo era. Makoto's family possesses the power to see the gods' agent, but this ability is limited to one living family member at a time. When Makoto's mother passed away, Makoto inherited this ability and together with Gintaro, they help the people of their community. The manga was adapted into a 12-episode anime television series by Diomedéa in 2013, directed by Shin Misawa. The anime depicts how Makoto and Gintaro use their abilities to assist those who visit the shrine, despite Gintaro being somewhat lazy and foul-mouthed. The anime has been streamed on platforms like Crunchyroll and licensed by Sentai Filmworks.
