"Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan the TV" is a Japanese short-form anime, and the second season of "Maji de Otaku na English! Ribbon-chan ~Eigo de Tatakau Mahou Shoujo~". The anime continues the style of the previous work, with English learning as its main theme, incorporating a lot of otaku culture and humorous elements. It tells the story of high school student Nanairo Ribbon, who struggles with English, making a contract with a cat named Toner, who claims to be her familiar, and becoming a magical girl. She fights against a chunibyo witch while learning English with her friends. The plot of the anime is not serious and focuses more on self-deprecating parodies of the anime production process and pop culture/anime references. Each episode contains an English learning segment, but the learning content is often related to otaku culture and presented in a lighthearted and comical way. The production team cleverly integrates the plight of low budgets and lack of manpower into the plot, giving the audience a unique sense of humor. The anime was produced by AIC Frontier and aired on TV Tokyo in 2013.
