Initial D: Legend

The "New Initial D the Movie" is a trilogy of anime films based on Shuichi Shigeno's manga "Initial D," which retells the early stages of the original story. The first film, "Legend 1: Awakening," was released in 2014, launching a new theatrical series featuring a new voice cast and J-Rock soundtrack, replacing the traditional Eurobeat music. It follows Takumi Fujiwara, an ordinary tofu delivery high school student, as he gradually reveals his exceptional racing talent and confronts Keisuke Takahashi of the Akagi RedSuns team. The film series highlights the rivalry and growth of Takumi and the Takahashi brothers, using modern animation to recreate intense mountain road racing scenes from the manga. This reboot of "Initial D" has attracted both new and longtime fans. Beyond retelling the story, the series also has a new soundtrack with J-Rock music, offering a different auditory experience. A compilation film called "Battle Digest" was also released from the trilogy.
