Magical Warfare (Japanese: 魔法戦争, Hepburn: Mahō Sensō) is a Japanese light novel series written by Hisashi Suzuki and illustrated by Lunalia. It was published by Media Factory under their MF Bunko J imprint from November 25, 2011, with a total of 12 volumes. A manga adaptation by You Ibuki began serialization in the manga magazine Monthly Comic Gene on April 15, 2013, with 6 volumes published. A 12-episode anime television series adaptation produced by Madhouse aired from January 9 to March 27, 2014. The story revolves around Takeshi Nanase, an ordinary high school student who encounters a mysterious girl named Mui Aiba, who claims to be a magician. Mui accidentally turns Takeshi into a magician as well. Subsequently, Takeshi and his friends get caught in a conflict between two worlds: the human world and the world of magicians. They enter the Subaru Magic Academy to learn magic and fight against the Ghost Trailer organization, which seeks to dominate humans through violence. The series has been criticized for its weak plot and bland characters, and author Suzuki has admitted that adapting the light novel into an anime was a mistake.
