Robot Girls Z

"Robot Girls Z" (Japanese: ロボットガールズZ, Hepburn: Robotto Gāruzu Zetto) is a Japanese anime television series produced by Dynamic Planning and animated by Toei Animation. The series is a comedic parody of various mecha series produced by Toei, anthropomorphizing robots from those series into magical girls. The series aired on the Toei Channel between January 4, 2014 and March 2, 2014, and was simulcast by Crunchyroll. The story revolves around a new team of "Toei robot girls" named "Team Z" that is made up of three girls based on Toei's Mazinger Z franchise: Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and UFO Robot Grendizer. They usually perform in activities around Nerima ward in Tokyo to raise awareness of the promising future energy source "Photon Power". However, there are times when "Mechanical Beast" girls emerge from the "Subterranean Empire" and attempt to steal the energy. Thus "Team Z" has to battle them to prevent this. The franchise also includes a web manga, a novel, two video games, and other related media.
