"Hunter x Hunter: The Last Mission" is the second animated feature film based on Yoshihiro Togashi's manga series "Hunter x Hunter," directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi and written by Nobuaki Kishima. It was released in Japan on December 27, 2013. The story takes place after the Greed Island arc and before the Chimera Ant arc. The plot revolves around the dark history within the Hunter Association, where a group of hunters known as the "Shadow," wielding a dark power called "On" that contrasts with "Nen," seek revenge after being betrayed and massacred. In the film, Gon, Killua, and their friends must face the "Shadow," led by the former hunter Jed, and uncover the secrets of the Hunter Association. The story explores themes of light and darkness, revenge, and redemption, and whether Gon will choose the path of the "Shadow" when faced with difficult decisions. New characters including Jed, Gaki, Shura, and Rengoku appear in the movie. While not part of the official canon, the film is loved by fans for its impressive fight scenes and profound themes.
