Barakamon

"Barakamon" (Japanese: ばらかもん) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Satsuki Yoshino. The story centers on Seishu Handa, a young calligrapher who, as a punishment for striking an elderly critic, is exiled to the remote Goto Islands off the western coast of Kyushu, Japan. It's a comedic tale about a city boy adapting to rural life, interacting with islanders, and finding his own style in calligraphy. The manga began serialization in Square Enix's Gangan Online in 2009, and it has had anime and drama adaptations. The story focuses on Handa's life on the island, where he has to adapt to a new environment vastly different from his past life, and encounters colorful characters like a precocious child, Naru, and other various island residents. The story is filled with humor and displays the simple beauty of rural life. It also explores themes like self-discovery, family, and friendship.
