Nobunaga the Fool is a Japanese multimedia project created by Shōji Kawamori, part of the larger franchise titled 'The Fool,' encompassing a stage play and anime series. The stage play combines live actors produced by Avex Live Creative with animation by Satelight, first performed on December 8, 2013. The anime series, also animated by Satelight, began airing on January 5, 2014. The story is set on two fictional planets, the Western Star and the Eastern Star, once bound by the 'Dragon Pulse' spanning the heavens. A once-prosperous civilization is now a tale of dreams as endless wars tear the realm apart. The return of 'Sacred Treasures,' super technology, could revolutionize the world order, but only a 'heretical girl' knows of them. A girl from the Western Star, Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, has visions of the birth of a 'Savior King' who will save the world. She embarks on a journey to the Eastern Star with Leonardo da Vinci, the 'one who observes the world.' They encounter Oda Nobunaga, the heretic of the Eastern Star and 'the greatest fool of the day.'
