Hanayamata

Hanayamata (ハナヤマタ), also stylized as HaNaYaMaTa, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Sō Hamayumiba. It was serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine from April 2011 to February 2018, and collected into ten tankōbon volumes. The story centers around Naru Sekiya, an ordinary 14-year-old girl who feels lost until she encounters Hana, a foreign girl practicing dance at night. On a whim, Naru joins Hana and is introduced to the world of yosakoi dancing. The title of the series is a portmanteau of the first two letters of the girls' first names: Hana, Naru, Yaya, Machi, and Tami. An anime television series adaptation produced by Madhouse aired in Japan from July to September 2014. Sentai Filmworks acquired the North American license for the anime in 2015, releasing the DVD and Blu-ray with an English dub on January 19, 2016. The series was also licensed in the UK, Ireland, and Australia. A PlayStation Vita adventure/rhythm game titled Hanayamata: Yosakoi Live! was released on November 13, 2014.
