The Case File of Young Kindaichi Returns

"The Kindaichi Case Files R" (金田一少年の事件簿R, Kindaichi Shōnen no Jikenbo R), also known as "The Kindaichi Case Files Returns", is a 2014 TV anime based on "The Kindaichi Case Files" manga. It is a sequel to the 1997 TV anime "The Kindaichi Case Files". The series ran for two seasons, totaling 47 episodes and one standalone TV special. Although the series adapts a number of older cases from the Kindaichi manga, the setting is modern-day Japan rather than Japan of the 1990s. The main cast received updated designs but retained their voice actors from the 90s anime series. "The Kindaichi Case Files R" follows high school student Hajime Kindaichi, grandson of famous detective Kosuke Kindaichi, as he solves various bizarre and intricate cases using his keen observation and deductive abilities. Alongside his childhood friend Miyuki Nanase, he gets entangled in numerous crime incidents, often confronting antagonists like the "Hell Puppeteer". The series combines elements of mystery, suspense, and horror, and is beloved for its intricate case designs, tense atmosphere, and deep exploration of human nature.
