Aldnoah.Zero (Japanese: アルドノア・ゼロ, often stylized as ΛLDNOΛH.ZERO) is a Japanese original mecha anime series created by Olympus Knights and co-produced by A-1 Pictures and TROYCA. The series depicts the story of the Vers Empire from Mars and its 37 clans of Orbital Knights attempting to reconquer Earth. This ambition is fueled by their disdain for Earth's technology and bolstered by a powerful energy/drive technology called "Aldnoah". Set in 2014, the narrative portrays fierce battles across Earth, the Vers orbital castles, Vers bases on the remnants of the Moon, and the Vers palace on Mars. The anime is plotted by Gen Urobuchi, directed by Ei Aoki, and features the principal Japanese voice acting of Natsuki Hanae, Kensho Ono, and Sora Amamiya. The first season premiered in July 2014 with 12 episodes, followed by a second season in 2015, also with 12 episodes. The series' soundtrack was composed by Hiroyuki Sawano and is known for songs like "heavenly blue" by Kalafina.
