"Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun" (Japanese: 月刊少女野崎くん, Gekkan Shōjo Nozaki-kun) is a Japanese four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Izumi Tsubaki. It began serialization on Gangan Online in 2011 and is published in tankōbon volumes by Square Enix. The story follows high school student Chiyo Sakura, who has a crush on her classmate Umetaro Nozaki. After a misunderstanding during her confession, Chiyo becomes Nozaki's manga assistant, discovering his secret identity as the shōjo manga artist “Sakiko Yumeno.” The series humorously depicts the daily lives of Chiyo, Nozaki, and their friends, weaving in comedic situations arising from the manga creation process. A key element is its playful parody of shōjo manga tropes, and the misunderstandings among characters. In addition to the manga, an anime television series adaptation, produced by Doga Kobo, aired in 2014. The anime faithfully captures the manga’s comedic essence and charming characters, earning widespread popularity. The work’s appeal lies in its ability to elicit laughter while showcasing genuine emotions among characters. It is more than a mere comedy manga; it is a story exploring themes of friendship, love, and dreams.
