Macross Delta (マクロスΔ, Makurosu Deruta) is a 2016 Japanese science fiction anime, the fourth television series in the Macross franchise. Set in 2067, eight years after the events of Macross Frontier, the story takes place in the remote Brisingr Globular Cluster, plagued by the mysterious "Var Syndrome," which causes people to become violent. To combat this, the interstellar enterprise Chaos forms the tactical sound unit Walküre, whose singing generates "bio-fold waves" that calm the afflicted, protected by the Delta Squadron pilots. Simultaneously, the Windermere Kingdom emerges, exploiting Var Syndrome for warfare, claiming to be descendants of the ancient Protoculture, and declaring war on the New Unified Government. The narrative revolves around Walküre’s songs, the battles of Delta Squadron, and interstellar politics and civilization conflicts, blending transforming mecha, music, and love triangles, series mainstays.
